The hotel exterior is modern and somewhat stands out against some of the quaint and colorful two-storey pre-wwii shop houses. The building is multi-colored and in first-rate condition. The rooms are samll, neat but clean. They are equipped with the basic amenities and a tv. There is no wardrobe in the room however rack are obtainable for hanging cloths. The bathroom is standing shower, basic but functional. The lobby has a fully manned front desk around the clock. There is a row of clocks featuring dissimilar countries time on the wall. It has limited seating. Located within the suburb of joo chiat, near katong, this district is the former enclave for the peranakan sub culture in singapore. The peranakans were the descendants of the chinese merchants who came here to trade and took on the local malay wives as well as adopting the culture. Peranakan culture - the food, jewellery, furniture as well as houses have been the hallmark of the katong and joo chiat area. Located within the suburb of joo chiat, joo chiat road is lined by pre-war shophouses, some of which dwelling vanishing trades and elderly furniture shops, whilst others dwelling modern eateries, karaoke bars and nightclubs. Walking around the neighbourhood, one can find numerous examples of the mix of chinese and the malay tradition. It is a 10 minute drive to the beaches and parks in the east coast and 5 minutes drive to the parkway shopping centre.
